What is RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement)?
-
RTGS is a high-value fund transfer system where transactions are processed individually in real time (not batched like NEFT).
Key features of RTGS
- Minimum transaction amount — commonly ₹2 lakhs (confirm with your bank).
- No upper limit in many cases (bank-dependent).
- Real-time settlement when the system is available.
- Requires beneficiary details — name, account number, IFSC code, and bank name.
Why choose RTGS?
- Ideal for high-value transactions (e.g. property, business payments).
- RBI-regulated infrastructure.
- Suited when you need gross, real-time settlement.
Note: Timings and limits change; always verify on your bank’s official website before transferring.
